Symphoniker Hamburg / Europa Chor Akademie Görlitz / Leo Hussain

A musical Advent calendar: for his debut with the Symphoniker Hamburg, conductor Leo Hussain has put together a programme of choral masterpieces to put his audience in a reflective pre-Christmas mood. Max Bruch’s Christmas cantata about the Flight to Egypt is an elaborate composition. Arthur Honegger’s version of the Christmas story from the Bible contains a colourful medley of well-known Christmas carols. The concert is rounded off by Mendelssohn’s »Vom Himmel hoch« and an extract from Liszt’s complex oratorio »Christus«. The orchestra is ably supported by the Europa Chor Akademie Görlitz under its choirmaster Joshard Daus.
