Symphonic Wind Quintet
Symphoniker Hamburg / Chamber Music Recital
Wind chamber music at its very best and a cleverly compiled programme: in this sixth Symphoniker Hamburg chamber music recital, the focus turns to one of the few female composers in classical music history. The Romanticist Louise Farrenc was Professor of Piano at the Paris Conservatoire and she enjoyed a considerable reputation as a composer during her lifetime – her sextet is rich in musical ideas. In addition, two late works are performed, both of which were composed in a creative frenzy: Johannes Brahms’s moving Intermezzo and Leoš Janaček’s »Mládi« Suite, a dazzling evocation of the memories of a »golden youth«.
