SWR Symphony Orchestra / Avdeeva / Currentzis
Prokofiev
Simply Prokofiev
The excitement and enthusiasm of musicians, audiences and critics have reached new heights since Teodor Currentzis took over as chief conductor of the SWR Symphony Orchestra. This has already been evident multiple times at the Elbphilharmonie too, not least in the chamber music encores by individual orchestra musicians. In the first of two guest performances together this season, the programme is dedicated exclusively to Prokofiev: the popular Third Piano Concerto is performed by the Chopin Competition winner Yulianna Avdeeva, followed by the heroic Fifth Symphony – the composer’s most powerful and immersive.
