Simone Kermes
»Belcanto di Napoli«
Some people simply call her »La Kermes«. If you see Simone Kermes on stage in her spectacular outfits, you think you’re looking at a real diva. But the soprano is actually not pretentious in the least: she loves making contact with her audience, and even dares sing an ABBA number accompanied by an early music orchestra as an encore! Her trademark is the unconventional, and she specialises in deliberate clashes of style. Yet she remains authentic in the process, a quality that makes Simone Kermes an out-of-the-ordinary interpreter of the baroque: no emotions are too strong or too deep for her, no coloratura too risky. After her dazzling Elbphilharmonie debut in March 2017, she now returns to Hamburg with a recital of her favourite bel canto arias.
