Sarah Davachi
ePhil
Sarah Davachi discovered her fascination with instruments while working as a museum guide at the National Music Centre, a collection of instruments in her home town of Calgary. How does the shape of an instrument influence the character of the sound produced? How does a body vibrate? What physical properties accompany the production of sound? As an electro-acoustic composer, Sarah Davachi makes use of her experiences in compositions for a wide range of instruments: strings, woodwind, organs, the human voice and icons of electronic sound production such as the EMS or the Sequential Circuits Pro One.
At the centre of Hamburg’s St. Pauli district, in the bunker on Feldstraße, audiences can hear electronic music in the »ePhil« series that has the courage of its convictions. Electronic artists, creative hardware builders and freethinkers who love to experiment have been producing exciting sensual experiences here since 2015, with sounds analogue and digital, and with visual installations. In the darkened atmosphere of the »resonanzraum«, voted Music Club of the Year for 2017, four musical adventurers give us a look at the music of the future.
