Romeo and Juliet
Hamburg Symphony Orchestra / PhilHarmony Concert / VielHarmonie-Konzert
Is there a more perfect synonym for love than »Romeo and Juliet«? Sergey Prokofiev’s ballet music tells the tragic story in a twentieth century tonal language that ranges from earnest and excessive to ironic and intense. The Slavic influenced, temperamental Violin Concerto by Antonín Dvořák has been worshipped by both the public and violin virtuosos for about 130 years. Making her debut with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra tonight is the »ingenious« Diana Tishchenko (Tagesspiegel).
