Christopher Park is no stranger to music enthusiasts in Hamburg. Ever since Christoph Eschenbach became aware of this exceptional young pianist, Christopher Park has left his mark on the local music scene: in 2014, he won the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival’s Leonard Bernstein Award, on the recommendation of Eschenbach, which was followed by several performances in the Laeiszhalle.

The Tagesspiegel headlined its review of Park’s debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin as »A Pianist like the Beat of a Timpani«. His appearance at the »Rising Stars« festival is thus sure to meet with satisfaction. Park’s nomination as a »Rising Star« comes from the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Musikverein Wien. His debut concert there with the Küchl Quartett, consisting of members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, met with great critical acclaim at the end of 2014.

Christopher Park’s festival appearance, in addition to works by Bach, Brahms and Olga Neuwirth, includes a composition that he previously interpreted as part of a production by Hamburg’s ballet director John Neumeier: the »Three Movements from Petrushka« by Igor Stravinsky. All in all, plenty of subjects to fill the Meet the Artist discussion preceding the concert.
