»Flying Carpet«
Music as a flying carpet, ignoring the boundaries of time, politics and religion: the award-winning ensemble Quadro Nuevo join forces in this concert with Cairo Steps, an international Sufi and world music group, in an exciting mix of classical Arab music, tango, hypnotic grooves, jazz and improvisation.
The two ensembles first met in the Alte Oper Frankfurt, and in January 2017, they toured Egypt, playing the opera houses of Cairo, Alexandria and Damanhur. The upshot of the tour was the album »Flying Carpet«. The underlying idea was »to forge a link between East and West«, thus the musicians from Cairo and Cologne, Baghdad and Bavaria. »A ride on the flying carpet together!«
