Pianist Jacky Terrasson has left his years of apprenticeship and travel behind him, when he played unorthodox jazz standards, pop songs and pieces borrowed from classical music. But on his new album »53« the Franco-American musician, who was born in Berlin in 1965, grew up in Paris and later went to New York, plays solely compositions from his own pen.

Terrasson chose the title simply because he wrote the songs in the 53rd year of his life and found that he had achieved a certain level of maturity, distance and clarity. He once again opted for the classic trio format with its creative potential between individual expression and collective interaction. In the Laeiszhalle he is accompanied by French bass player Sylvain Romano and the Cuban Lukmil Perez on percussion.
