The concert programme of the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle cannot go ahead as planned due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This concert has been rescheduled for 6 October 2020, tickets retain their validity: Got to replacement event

This man needs nothing but a grand piano. And a big stage. Those two ingredients were all Grigory Sokolov needed for a career that is truly unparalleled! No striking photos of the artist, no interviews searching for meaning, no lavish album productions. No, Sokolov is really only present on the concert platform, seated at the keyboard and conjuring up music that is hard to describe, and has been delighting audiences for many years now. He only announces his programme shortly before the recital, but every programme is so well compiled and balanced that it can open up completely new worlds. Schubert, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Haydn – in Sokolov’s hands they are all transformed into a perfectly coordinated concert.
