Poppy Ackroyd

A little girl begins to learn the violin and the piano – we’ve heard such tales a thousand times before. Poppy Ackroyd was born in London in 1982 and the story of her early musical education is similar to that of many other children. But Ackroyd takes a different turn at a decisive point early in her life: she begins exploring the world of electronic instruments and discovers a love of experimentation. She has since made quite a name for herself – somewhere between minimal music, Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds. But you don’t really need these kinds of comparisons because what Poppy Ackroyd does on stage is unique: the soundtrack for a whole generation.
