Trio Orelon / 1st Prize ARD International Music Competition 2023
Chamber music with an irrepressible energy
The Orelon Trio has catapulted itself to the top of the international classical music scene with two high-calibre prizes in the space of just a few weeks. In July, the ensemble won 1st prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition (MICMC) in Australia. In September, it was awarded 1st prize and the audience prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Founded in Cologne in 2018, the piano trio Orelon owes its name to the world language Esperanto, in which »Orelon« simply means »ear«. And indeed, the performances by the young ensemble from Germany, Italy and Spain are a real treat for the ears.
The Orelon Trio will be performing works by Franz Schubert, Lili Boulanger, Wolfgang Rihm and – as a tribute to the Hanseatic city – Hamburg-born Johannes Brahms at the Rolf Liebermann Studio of NDR in Hamburg.
