»Pictures at an Exhibition«
Lunch Concert with Mussorgsky’s »Pictures at an Exhibition«
Mussorgsky’s »Pictures at an Exhibition« for eight horns? In 1874 the Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky attended an exhibition featuring pictures and architectural and costume sketches by his recently deceased friend Viktor Hartmann. Moved by the experience, Mussorgsky composed one of the most important piano cycles in music history – »Pictures at an Exhibition«. The horn quartet german hornsound has recruited four additional horns for this project, and they now present a very special arrangement of »Pictures at an Exhibition«. TV presenter Juri Tetzlaff provides a guided tour of the various rooms of the exhibition – bringing the pictures of old to life in more than musical form.
