Orchestra di Santa Cecilia / Sir Antonio Pappano
Beethoven / Mendelssohn / Schumann
Since Janine Jansen released an acclaimed album featuring violin concertos by Brahms and Bartók with the Rome-based Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in 2016, the star Dutch violinist and the famous Italian orchestra have shared what is commonly known in the scene as a musical friendship. Chief conductor Sir Antonio Pappano, whose excellent programming is a blessing to the violinist and audiences alike, also played an important part in the successful partnership. Beethoven’s »King Stephen« Overture, for example, is only rarely performed in concert, but it is the perfect prelude to Mendelssohn’s wonderful violin concerto, in which Janine Jansen’s solo violin can shine.
