Orchestra di Santa Cecilia / Anne-Sophie Mutter / Sir Antonio Pappano
Beethoven / Strauss / Verdi
When an orchestra is named after the patron saint of music, it comes as no surprise that it has been paying tribute to Saint Cecilia for over 100 years, and is regarded as one of the world’s ten best musical ensembles. Together with an absolute star violinist, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Roma contributes a guaranteed highlight to the Hamburg concert calendar.
Anne-Sophie Mutter has been a kind of modern-day Muse of music for many years, and tonight she can be heard as the soloist in Beethoven’s unique Violin Concerto in the first part of the concert. After the interval, the top Italian orchestra proves its mettle in Richard Strauss’s tone poem »Ein Heldenleben«.
