When Lada Obradovič and David Tixier perform, it’s not just a piano and drum kit standing on stage, but also all sorts of cables, a Fender Rhodes, synthesizers, loops, effect devices, a glockenspiel and a kalimba. The percussionist’s grooves are just as succinct and precise as the pianist’s touch is soft and round. Flowing harmonies are the framework for improvisations featuring hypnotic motifs and echoes of Johann Sebastian Bach’s fugues. The duo switches between their numerous instruments with an incredible ease and lightness – carefully considered yet vibrant and organic at the same time.
Jazz at the Kulturcafé is a monthly event presenting the most promising upcoming artists in the jazz and singer-songwriter scene. It is the perfect experimental platform for musicians and bands from Hamburg and all over the country. The atmosphere is laid back – and admission is free!
