A twilight world
A concert entirely devoted to the night: although the subject sounds dark, the programme that conductor Marcus Creed has put together is actually very colourful, thanks to Romantic music and its fondness for darkness. Franz Schubert, for example, »always welcomes« nighttime, symbolised in his »Nachtgesang im Walde« by four horns. Johannes Brahms in turn does without horns, but he conjures them up again in his »Nachtwachen« before the »Nachtwind« carries them off once more. The NDR Vokalensemble is accompanied by Philip Mayers on the piano.
