NDR Kultur Reading: Elizabeth Strout
The new Siegfried Lenz Prize winner
A literary evening
»What does it feel like to be another person?« This question is impossible to answer – unless you write: »Finding out is my driving force«, says the American author Elizabeth Strout. That has resulted in a vast literary oeuvre rich with characters, feelings and stories. Strout, who was born in Portland, Maine, in 1956, has now been awarded the 2022 Siegfried Lenz Prize in recognition of that work. On the evening before the award ceremony in Hamburg City Hall, Elizabeth Strout will be making an appearance in the NDR’s Rolf Liebermann Studio. In a discussion with the NDR Kultur editor Jan Ehlert, she takes us through her oeuvre, which includes novels such as »Olive Kitteridge«, »My Name is Lucy Barton« and »Oh William!«.
