NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Juraj Valčuha
NDR Late Night
A classical symphony concert and a pop music performance on one evening: after a successful first season, NDR Late Night returns with two orchestral works on the programme: Dmitri Shostakovich’s First Symphony – a brilliant final composition for his music degree in St. Petersburg, which he completed at the young age of 19 – and a suite from »La Strada« by Nino Rota, the composer of the famous film soundtrack to Coppola’s »The Godfather«. This hour of stirring classical music performed by the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra under the baton of Juraj Valčuha is followed by a performance by in-demand pop artist JOCO presented by radio station N-JOY. JOCO is a German duo consisting of two sisters, Josepha und Cosima Carl. With their two voices and lightly orchestrated accompaniments, the duo has already performed as the opening act to Van Morrison and been selected as Newcomer of the Year in 2015. JOCO presents its new album »Into the Deep« for this NDR Late Night concert.
