NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Edward Gardner
Dutilleux / Stravinsky / Debussy
Vilde Frang is not just a fantastic violinist; she is also an inquisitive explorer. Whether as a chamber musician or as a soloist, she always has a special penchant for works that stand apart from the mainstream. When she teams up with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in December, the star Norwegian violinist will be performing Igor Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D: a work from the composer’s neo-classicist phase, in which he clearly draws on the Baroque form of the concerto grosso and strikes a cheerful tone.
