NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Andris Poga

»Compact Classics«, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra’s series of one-hour-long concerts, presents stirring orchestral music in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall on a Sunday afternoon. For this concert, Latvian conductor Andris Poga has selected Jean Sibelius’s final symphony, in which the Finnish composer broke new ground in the 1920s. In one single movement, the customary harmonic and formal structures of the genre are dissolved.
