NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Alan Gilbert
Season Finale
In memoriam Chick Corea
American jazz virtuoso Chick Corea was originally scheduled to bring the 2020/21 season to a close at the Elbphilharmonie. Accompanied by the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra under Alan Gilbert, Corea would have marked his 80th birthday with a performance of his own piano concerto, undoubtedly making a lasting impression not only on his huge fan community. In February 2021 the legendary pianist, composer and 22-time Grammy winner died aged 79. The members of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and their chief conductor Alan Gilbert now devote the concerts with an altered programme to his memory.
