NDR Bigband / Geir Lysne

In »Watt About«, the Hamburg video artist Theo Janßen combines archive material with newly filmed scenes to create a kaleidoscopic film. Responsible for the audio-visual realisation of the film material is Geir Lysne, the leader of the NDR Bigband. Lysne has not structured »Watt About« as film music nor as a concert – rather, the work plays with the breaking open of fixed contexts using loops and digital technology. Instead of a score with precisely defined cut lengths, the music and image remain open so that the individual sections can be played longer or shorter in the concert.
