Murray Perahia Plays Beethoven
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5
»The fifth concerto is one of the greatest piano concertos ever written« – thus Murray Perahia. The virtuoso pianist has ruled the world’s concert platforms for decades. Now he can be heard in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie, accompanied by the venerable Academy of St Martin in the Fields, whose principal guest conductor he has been since the year 2000. The final concert in the series features Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, a magnificent work written during a time of war that nonetheless radiates hope and trust in a power that will survive for all time.
