Murray Perahia Plays Beethoven
Beethoven: Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 3
As a star of the quiet kind, Murray Perahia has ruled the world’s concert platforms for decades. His Bach recordings have benchmark quality, while his lifelong study of Beethoven now reaches a new level: accompanied by the venerable Academy of St Martin in the Fields, whose principal guest conductor he has been since the year 2000, he will be performing all five of the composer’s piano concertos in October and November 2017. Perahia starts by playing the Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 3, which are set in the parallel keys of C major and c minor and form a common cosmos of tone colour.
