Menahem Pressler / Piano Recital
Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival
16 December 1923 – the date of Menahem Pressler’s birth. When you start counting, you can’t quite believe it … but it’s true: the legendary pianist and co-founder of the Beaux Arts Trio will be just a few months away from celebrating his 95th birthday when he graces the stage of the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall for a solo evening in August. Born in Magdeburg, Pressler and his family fled the Nazis to Palestine in 1939, and he has been living in the USA since 1955. Best known for decades as a chamber musician and great teacher, Pressler reinvented himself at a grand old age. He performed a Mozart concerto in a brilliant debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2014, and he has been in such demand as a soloist since then that his diary is now full until 2019.
