Martin Stegner and Walter Küssner usually play in one of the world’s best orchestras: the Berlin Philharmonic. But they can now be seen performing a chamber music recital with the Japanese pianist Tomoko Takahashi, Küssner’s daughter Elena and his wife Noriko Sugiyama in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall. The programme features lieder by Robert Schumann, arranged by Martin Stegner for the viola and piano, and works that usually only feature on concert programmes as encores. Under the title »Encore«, Walter Küssner has put together a homage to these works by Pablo de Sarasate, Fritz Kreisler and Johan Halvorsen.
