The music of the Bosnian accordionist is reminiscent of composers like Philipp Glass or musicians like Nils Frahm. It sometimes sounds like a film score, but yet again could have been composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or Antonio Vivaldi. With elements from classical and contemporary experimental music, Batkovic, who studied at the University of Music in Hanover and at the Bern University of the Arts, has explored the limits of his instrument and liberated the »squeezebox« from its stereotype shackles. The exceptional musicality of the artist aroused the interest of producer Geoff Barrow, a member of Portishead. In 2015, Mario Batkovic accompanied the band BEAK on their tour of Great Britain.
