Mahogany Opera Group: Lost in Thought
Lux aeterna
»They have expanded the definition of what opera can be,« wrote the BBC about the Mahogany Opera Group. Ever since they were founded in 2014, the opera company has pursued its goal to leave behind the traditional boundaries of the art form. They continue this path with »Lost in Thought«, the world’s first »Mindfulness« opera.
The idea for this and the creation of this singular production comes from the British-German composer and pianist Rolf Hind. Not only has he premiered many piano works by noted colleagues, but he has also written a series of works himself. In these he reflects, among other aspects, on his time in India.
In close cooperation with experts from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at London’s King’s College, Hind has created a four-hour musical performance that invites the audience to voyage to its inner self. In an intimate surrounding, it focuses on the »moment« – through moments of meditation, quietness and a shared dinner. The Guardian pronounced: »The experience was oddly touching, inspiring and, like life itself, absurd«.
Limited to 100 guests.
