The Polish tenor Piotr Beczała is a true superstar singer: charming, laid-back and blessed with a breathtaking voice. In 2015 he won an Echo Klassik Award for his interpretation of the Duke in »Rigoletto«. And while he may be particularly fond of the Italian operatic repertoire, he is by no means limited to it.

His recent concert solo performances of works by Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms garnered critical acclaim around the world. Accompanied by the grand seigneur of lieder accompanists, Helmut Deutsch, Beczała presents a melange of classical song, including Robert Schumann’s epochal setting of Heine’s lieder to music and Dvorák’s popular Gypsy Songs, Op. 55. Beczała combines these »traditional« lieder cycles with selected songs by his fellow countryman Mieczyslaw Karlowicz.
