The sounds of nature and the tumult of battle
Referring to the ornithologically accurate birdcall imitations in his »Pastoral« Symphony, Ludwig van Beethoven told his secretary Anton Schindler that »the yellowhammers, quails, nightingales and cuckoos all around contributed to the composition«. Jordi Savall is also bound to enjoy this musical scenery. Together with his orchestra Le Concert des Nations, which specialises in historically informed performance, he presents that symphony along with Beethoven’s Seventh at the Laeiszhalle.
