Klassische Philharmonie Bonn / Cecilie Eikaas / Ervis Gega
»Femmes« / Mozart: »Serenata Notturna« / Hummel: Trumpet Concerto / Martines: Symphony in C major / Haydn: »La Reine« Symphony
This concert under the motto »Femmes« presents women as creators of music – a theme that is still relevant today. With the Symphony in C major by Marianna von Martines, the work of a composer who is now almost forgotten is a part of the programme. Martines lived in Vienna in the second half of the 18th century and was a lodger with her family at the home of none other than the librettist Pietro Metastasio. Through him and her father, numerous doors opened to her in the musical society of the time. She received lessons from Joseph Haydn, among others.
The Klassische Philharmonie Bonn was founded in 1986, has around 60 members and performs its own regular concert series in concert halls throughout Germany. The orchestra’s repertoire ranges from music of the baroque to modern periods, with a particular focus on works from the First Viennese School, although contemporary works and compositions by school pupils are regularly found alongside Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.
