John le Carré was catapulted to crime author stardom with the success of his third novel »The Spy Who Came In from the Cold« and left his job at MI6 to dedicate all his time to writing. The British citizen is now considered one of the world’s most important contemporary authors and continuously has his finger on the pulse with current crime thrillers that place focus on the pharmaceutical industry’s deceptive schemes (»The Constant Gardener«), the international arms trade (»The Night Manager«) and the war on terror (»A Most Wanted Man«).

The Harbour Front Literaturfestival brings together some 100 German and international authors at more than 25 locations in Hamburg’s docklands, including the Elbphilharmonie for the first time, from 13 September to 15 October.
