Love triumphs
»I stand here singing for you because I believe in you and in the future«. Is there a more beautiful ending to a love song than this line? On his new acclaimed solo album »Gefühlte Wahrheiten« (Felt truths), Jochen Distelmeyer certainly doesn’t shy away from the big emotions. The former Blumfeld front man demonstrates once again that he is one of Germany’s greatest singer-songwriters.
»He has a knack for lyrical melodies that charge straight into the most tender corner of our hearts«, says NDR in praise of Distelmeyer’s new album. He took his time with the twelve songs, three of which are English country tracks. Distelmeyer began his solo career in 2007 after his band Blumfeld, which was highly influential in the Hamburg School for 15 years, broke up. He released his first solo album »Heavy« in 2009, the second »Songs from the Bottom, Vol. 1« in 2016, and now »Gefühlte Wahrheiten« in 2022.
In this age of uncertainty, »Gefühlte Wahrheiten« is an album about how it feels to be alive. Distelmeyer talks about losing and finding oneself, the Babylonian hubbub of social media, desire and longing, social division – and, of course, love. Because for Distelmeyer, there is no doubt that it is love that ultimately triumphs./p>
