Jazz at the Kulturcafé
Maik Krahl Quartett
If a jazz musician is diagnosed with »decidophobia«, it’s a clear case for the disability insurance: improvisation on stage calls for regular split-second decisions. So the fact that the Cologne jazz trumpeter Maik Krahl has named his debut album after this illness is not an admission that he suffers from it himself, but rather an ironic commentary. The promising young musician, who counts Till Brönner among his teachers, is actually very fond of making decisions. Krahl incorporates effects like delay and distortion into his playing, and harmonises in constantly changing fashion with his rhythm section and with Constantin Krahmer on the Fender Rhodes.
Jazz at the Kulturcafé is a monthly event presenting the most promising upcoming artists in the jazz and singer-songwriter scene. It is the perfect experimental platform for musicians and bands from Hamburg and all over the country. The atmosphere is laid back – and admission is free!
