The Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung sees the young Spanish violinist Javier Comesaña as »an open-minded and intelligent musician who may find a new approach to his art«. He won the Jascha Heifetz International Violin Competition in 2021, and is appearing in Hamburg as a duo together with a fellow Spaniard, the pianist Matteo Giuliani. On the programme are works by Enrique Granados, Sergej Prokofjew, Claude Debussy and Johannes Brahms.

Javier Comesaña is only 21, but he has already given acclaimed concerts in many countries – under the baton of conductors like Pablo González, Andrew Manze and Ivan Monighetti, and accompanied by orchestras such as Camerata Bern, the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra and the NDR Radiophilharmonie.
His duo partner Matteo Giuliani (b. 1999) is every bit his artistic equal. He was only 12 when he gave his debut in Madrid with Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto, and he has also played the solo part in Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto and in Beethoven’s »Choral Fantasy« in his native Spain.
