Jan Lisiecki / Academy of St Martin in the Fields
Jan Lisiecki steps in for Murray Perahia
Please note: Murray Perahia has regrettably been forced to cancel his appearance in this concert due to health reasons. Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki steps in at short notice.
Jan Lisiecki was awarded the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival’s Leonard Berstein Award in August 2013. Every year since then he has been invited back to the festival. Only one other pianist has been given this same honour: Grigory Sokolov. With this fact alone one may already gauge the greatness of this still very young Canadian of Polish origin. Together with the venerable London ensemble, Murray Perahia performed all five Beethoven piano concertos in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall in October and November 2017. The top musicians from London now repeat one of these evenings, with Jan Lisiecki replacing Murray Perahia at the keyboard, as part of the »International Soloists Compact« series: with Beethoven’s elegant Piano Concerto No. 2 and weighty Piano Concerto No. 5, they have opted for the centrepiece of the cycle.
