Inuksuit / Open-Air Percussion-Performance
Hamburg International Music Festival
Mindfulness in the open air
According to the New York Times, »Inuksuit« by the multi-award-winning composer John Luther Adams is »the ultimate environmental piece«. Written for open-air performance, the one-hour composition invites listeners to sharpen their senses and to become attentive – to the sounds that surround us and to the natural world in which we live. The work thereby fits neatly into the Music Festival programme, which explores the theme of »nature« this year. »Inuksuit« is scored for 9 to 99 percussionists distributed around a large, open area, around which the audience can move freely. As a result, every performance of »Inuksuit« is unique – and so is the experience for every single listener.
