»Plunderphonia« by the Berlin music producer Henrik Schwarz is a tribute to composer John Oswald, who became famous in 1987 with his »Plunderphonics«, i.e. plundered sounds. For this project, Schwarz selected some 70 motifs from over 700 string quartets written in the last 250 years, had them recorded by the Dutch Alma Quartet, and then de- and reconstructed the samples electronically. At this concert in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall, the Alma Quartet plays live, while Schwarz simultaneously processes the sounds on the computer.
