When Hauschka presented his album »What If« in the Recital Hall in the Elbphilharmonie’s first spring season in 2017, and then returned, this time to the Grand Hall, in the company of the Alma Quartet the following winter, Hamburg residents abandoned their well-known reserve: incredible, what a magnetic effect this man has with his prepared piano! It came as no surprise that Hollywood pounced on him without delay, and since he was nominated for an Oscar for the soundtrack to »Lion«, he is literally swamped with follow-up offers. »When Hauschka walks on to the stage, he looks for a challenge in the surprises of the moment,« wrote German weekly DIE ZEIT. Hauschka’s back now with a new album, where he concentrates entirely on his instrument. It goes without saying that the Hamburg release concert has to be held at the Elbphilharmonie.
