The Magnificat in the original vocal sound

It is impossible to imagine the musical Christmas season without both Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and his Magnificat. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of its premiere, the Hamburger Knabenchor pays special tribute to the Magnificat cantata. Whereas today choral and solo parts are usually cast with male and female voices, in the Hamburger Knabenchor boys and young men take on the vocal roles – a challenging honour and special joy for the young singers! The choir is accompanied by the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra conducted by Luiz de Godoy.
