Frauenkirche Dresden / Bach’s B Minor Mass
Concert to Celebrate 30 Years of City Partnership Between Dresden and Hamburg
It is still regarded as the »greatest musical work of all times and all people« and belongs to the core repertoire of the Frauenkirche Dresden’s two ensembles: Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B minor. As his last great vocal work, it is, as it were, his musical legacy. The Kyrie and Gloria were composed specially for the Dresdner Hof, for which Bach received the title »Hofcompositeurs« in 1736. Soloists as well as the Frauenkirche’s chamber choir and orchestra will perform the Mass in B minor in both cities on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the city partnership between Hamburg and Dresden.
