Francesco Tristano
»On Early Music«
An encounter of beginning and end
The album »On early music« had already been recorded – a musical anthology of works written around 1600, newly arranged for keyboard instruments. But Francesco Tristano wouldn’t be Francesco Tristano if he didn’t move with great virtuosity between tradition and new ground. And by that token, he managed to find something good about the corona pandemic: the first lockdown caused the pianist to rethink things, and he came to the conclusion that »the little things in life are really important, and that we need a contemporary commentary on the historical repertoire«. No sooner said than done: in 2021 Tristano returned to the studio to make a many-faceted album that expands to perfect effect original dance movements by adding enigmatic components from his own works and technoid alienations of Early Music. An encounter between the beginning and the end, between new and old, with tangible experience value and the uncertainty of a swirling future.
