Felix Mendelssohn Jugendorchester
Tchaikovsky / Lalo / Brahms
Youthful enthusiasm meets musical quality par excellence: in the first few weeks after the Elbphilharmonie’s official opening, the Felix Mendelssohn Jugendorchester already delighted audiences in the Grand Hall. Now the young musicians appear in the new concert hall once again, this time with a fireworks display of Romantic music. In addition to Tchaikovsky’s »Sleeping Beauty« suite and the Cello Concerto by French composer Edouard Lalo, we hear the Brahms symphony with perhaps the most Hamburg flavour: his First Symphony. The soloist tonight is cellist Teresa Beldi, who even at her young age already counts big names such as the conductors Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim among her sponsors.
