Fazıl Say / Academy of St Martin in the Fields
Tippett / Mozart / Say
»The goodness of humanity is reflected in his music,« says Fazıl Say about Mozart, expressing his admiration for the great composer and providing a clue to his own musical philosophy. For the Turkish pianist and composer, art and life always belong together. There is often also a political background to his work, and – alongside his thoughts on art and music – he is not afraid to express critical opinions on society and contemporary issues. He has stood before courts in his home country for doing so, but in his music he refuses to be robbed of the freedom to express whatever is on his mind.
