Estonian Festival Orchestra / Khatia Buniatishvili / Paavo Järvi
Elbphilharmonie Summer
Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili combines passion and vivacity with a deep understanding of music’s lyrical moments. In 2008 she won third prize at the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv as well as awards as the best Chopin interpreter, and since then she has been making guest appearances with orchestras all over the world. She can now be heard at the Elbphilharmonie together with the Estonian Festival Orchestra, in which conductor Paavo Järvi has been bringing together the best musicians from his native Estonia since 2011. The programme features works from Scandinavia and the Baltic states: a symphony by contemporary composer Arvo Pärt, religious in inspiration, paves the way to the Late Romantic world of Grieg and Sibelius.
