Ensemble Resonanz / Alena Baeva / Riccardo Minasi
Works by Gordon Kampe, Ludwig van Beethoven, Jörg Widmann and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Verve
Passionate, brilliant and full of verve – Alena Baeva performs Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with Ensemble Resonanz under the baton of Riccardo Minasi, the Hamburg string orchestra’s principal guest conductor and partner in crime.
Ensemble Resonanz starts the new season with a first performance and three repertoire classics: Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 are highlights of music history, while Jörg Widmann’s concert overture »Con Brio« is already a standard work, being one of the most frequently-played orchestral pieces of the 21st century.
The solo violin soars aloft in the Beethoven, singing of humanity and passion. Before the marvellous concerto opens with pulsating drumbeats, the orchestra also lashes out in the new composition by Gordon Kampe. Jörg Widmann brings even more verve into things, and the concert ends with elegance from Mozart’s pen.
