The setting: South Africa currently finds itself in a state of lawlessness, after a fever killed 95 percent of the population. With heavily-armed motorcycle gangs and wild animals threatening the survivors, Nicolaas Storm and his father try to build a new settlement with others. »Fever« is South African bestseller writer Deon Meyer’s latest thriller. Meyer lives in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town; in addition to numerous detective stories (for example, »Devil’s Peak « and »Blood Safari«), he has also written scripts for films and TV series.

In the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall, Deon Meyer reads from his book together with actress Charly Hübner as part of the Harbour Front Literaturfestival, which brings together some 100 German and international authors at more than 25 locations in Hamburg’s docklands from 13 September to 15 October.
