Collegium Musicum Hamburg
Christmas Concert
Christmas sounds by Bach, Rameau and Vivaldi
The Collegium Musicum Hamburg takes the audience on a journey through countries and times with the familiar and the unfamiliar. Beginning with the Orchestral Suite No. 2 by Johann Sebastian Bach, played with flutist Nathalie Hauptmann, the Christmas concert opens quietly and firmly on almost familiar terrain. The »Entrėe de Polymnie« from the opera »Les Borèades« by Jean-Philippe Rameau enchants with lightness and clarity like a winter evening with light snow flurries. Lorenzo Gaetano Zavateri’s Concerto pastorale provides the audience with a Christmas mood. Antonio Vivaldi’s best-known work »The Four Seasons« with David Movsisyan as solo violinist now performs a full round in the yearly cycle, which concludes and perhaps crowns the concert.
