Christiane Karg / Thomas Quasthoff / Justus Zeyen
Lieder Recital
Thomas Quasthoff may have stopped touring as an opera and lieder singer in 2012 but he still has his hands full as a successful jazz singer, actor and cabaret artist. Quasthoff’s goosebumps-inducing bass-baritone voice is also in demand for music-literary projects. With the soprano singer Christiane Karg and pianist Justus Zeyen, with whom Quasthoff launched his lieder career back in 1994, he now presents a homage to the French writer Louise Léveque de Vilmorin, in whose Parisian salon well-known figures such as Jean Cocteau, Anaïs Nin, Coco Chanel and Léo Ferré socialised in the early and mid-twentieth century. The perfect musical framework is provided by a programme of delightful songs composed by Francis Poulenc to the words of Louise Léveque de Vilmorin.
